The Museum becomes an active experience: in Stuttgart, Mercedes-Benz, with the support of Roarington, lets visitors do what they have always dreamed of, not merely admiring the cars on display, but actually driving them. The hunt for the simulators in the Classic Insel on Level 0 of the Mercedes-Benz Museum is on, especially at the weekend, when there is no shortage of challenges and everyone keeps an eye on their position on the Leaderboard of lap times, trying to climb a little higher. George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli do it on the track to chase the best grid spot; the visitors of the Mercedes Museum do it by getting behind the wheel of some of the most thrilling cars ever built, first among them the 300 SLR with which Stirling Moss won, and set the record, at the 1955 Mille Miglia. The reference times to beat have been laid down by professional drivers closely tied to Mercedes-Benz: Bernd Schneider, Bernd Mayländer and Karl Wendlinger. You have to try it to believe it!
There are three state-of-the-art simulators: two "Sportiva" units and one "Elio Z", designed respectively by Pininfarina and Zagato, engineered to deliver an extraordinarily realistic driving experience.
The Leaderboard updates in real time the ranking of the times recorded by visitors, generating a continuous challenge. Through the dedicated app on their phone, users can also tap into Roarington's digital ecosystem, carrying the experience well beyond their visit to the Museum. It is Roarington's sophisticated Digital Twin technology that makes it possible to step virtually behind the wheel of the historic cars on display at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, and to drive digital reproductions developed with extraordinary precision, both in their look and in their dynamic behaviour. Suspension setup, steering response, engine sound and driving sensations faithfully replicate the feel of the real cars. The Simulator experience runs until 31 May 2026 during the regular opening hours of the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, and is open even to those without a museum admission ticket. A ten-minute drive costs €14, or €7 for those under 21; tickets are available online, at the ticket office and at the Museum shop. Use of the simulators, located in the Classic Island on Level 0 of the Museum, is allowed for visitors aged over 15 and at least 1.60 metres tall. An Instructor is on hand to share information and advice both before the experience and, if requested or needed, during the drive itself. Truly unforgettable!
