The young Enzo, a direct descendant of the great Enzo Ferrari — the creator of the world’s most famous automotive brand — carries the iconic Ferrari surname. At birth, however, his surname was Mattioli, following his father’s name, in accordance with Italian law at the time. His mother, a daughter of Piero Ferrari, bore the Ferrari surname. As many know, Enzo Ferrari had two sons: Dino, who died young without descendants, and Piero, who is now Vice President of Ferrari S.p.A. and an influential entrepreneur in various mechanical sectors. The newborn Enzo was granted a legal exception and allowed to also carry the Ferrari surname — a fitting decision given what the name represents for Italy, and because, despite his young age, he is already demonstrating a talent and vision of which his great-grandfather would be proud.
Among his many qualities — particularly meaningful for someone bearing that name — is discretion. "Enzino," as many still affectionately call him, does not seek media attention. Instead, he pursues his professional endeavors quietly in his beloved Modena, without grand announcements, even though the results would justify them. In the newly released 2024/2025 edition of The Key, he granted a beautiful and in-depth interview to the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Antonio Ghini. It’s a significant sign of trust toward The Key, which covers the classic car world with cultural depth and insight—a sector that deeply interests young Ferrari Mattioli.
From his offices in Modena, Enzo Mattioli Ferrari manages the investment strategy of the family estate. Among its assets is the prestigious classic car restoration firm Bacchelli & Villa, acquired a few years ago. The long and fascinating conversation took place inside that very atelier but expanded into topics that hint at his significant future potential. After earning his degree, Enzo’s professional journey included serving as Ducati’s image director in MotoGP on behalf of then-sponsor Marlboro. He later spent several years working at Ferrari in the Marketing department, a path he personally chose to pause in order to broaden his experience — particularly in management and finance. It’s a story worth discovering: truly exclusive, and full of promising signals. Many hope to one day see a new Enzo Ferrari behind the wheel — figuratively or literally — of the magical company his great-grandfather built from nothing. And he already bears the name.
