It is almost a paradox to say that the extraordinary ability to innovate manifested by Citroën in 1956 when it presented the DS, ended up becoming somewhat of a burden for the French manufacturer. The DS was so far ahead of its time that it even anticipated the shapes that science fiction and space films introduced in the 70s. It is therefore not surprising that in 1980, the company wanted to give a sign of its ability to look ahead by being inspired by space. This was the impression visitors to the Paris Salon had in front of little Karin. Because one of the peculiarities of this concept car that will stand the test of time, was the challenge of presenting an extraordinary automobile that was also very compact in size in order to allow a very large number of potential customers to dream.
