RM Sotheby’s and Bonhams: fireworks in Paris
RM and Bonhams both saw success at their recent Paris auctions, with RM selling over €50 million ($53 million) and Bonhams reaching over €28 million ($30 million). Hypercars were popular, with a Bugatti Chiron Profilée selling for €9.8 million ($10.5 million) and a black Ferrari Enzo selling for €4.1 million ($4.4 million). Other notable sales included a 1948 Talbot-Lago T26 Grand Sport for €2.2 million ($2.4 million) and a triptych of top-range McLarens. Despite being missing from the collector market for seven months, a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster sold for €1.7 million ($1.9 million) after an exhaustive restoration.

A river of millions in Scottsdale
The Arizona auctions saw impressive results, with RM making $44.7 million, Barrett-Jackson making $182.9 million, and Bonhams making $30.4 million in sales. Despite slightly lower average prices for some auction houses, all customary sales percentages were high and stable. Notable sales included a Lamborghini Diablo VT, a Chevrolet Corvette ZL1, and a Maserati MC12. The auctions also featured a triptych of Italian-American hybrids, which each set a new record, with the 1957 Chrysler-Ghia Super Dart 400 selling for $819,000.

From the 1965 MGB Roadster customized by Frontline Developments, to a Simplex 50hp 5-Passenger Torpedo Tourer from 1910, and hypercars like the McLaren P1, Speedtail, and Senna LM, there's something for every collector's taste. The highlight of the auctions is the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, estimated to fetch between €10m-€15m. The auctions will provide a good indication of market trends and values for these unique cars.

Mecum. Is all that glitters gold?
The Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Florida saw the sale of 2,951 cars for a turnover of $224,729,090, with a growth of 11.7% compared to last year. The top lot was a 1992 Ferrari F40 which sold for $3,135,000. Prices were more realistic this year, and buyers were more attentive to prices. The Porsche Carrera GT experienced a drop in prices, while the Chevrolet 454 SS Pick-up set a new record. The cheapest car was a 1996 Volkswagen Golf Harlequin, and a 1962 Lockheed 1329 Jetstar without engine or instrumentation, which was once owned by Elvis Presley, was also sold.
