The mystery of the elevated curves. A film to discover from behind the scenes

This is a story of undeniable authenticity: two passionate vintage car enthusiasts cross paths by chance at Monza, brought together by fate to drive on the historic track that once hosted Formula 1 races: the one featuring the two mesmerizing and formidable elevated curves. One is a younger driver, behind the wheel of a Porsche RSR while the other, a seasoned veteran and former racer, drives a Cobra.

Both drivers find themselves in their respective pits, and as often happens, both have mechanics dealing with unexpected issues on their cars. With them in the pits are also the young partner of one and the older wife of the other. Clearly, the two women are bored: they’d much rather be in the bustling streets of fashion in Milan.

As these two drivers emerge from their pits, they come face to face and share resigned smiles, discussing the complexities of their cars. There’s time for a walk to the nearby south elevated curve. As they walk, they talk about the races from those years, impressed by how steep the curve is, so much that they can’t walk up it.

There’s camaraderie and empathy between them, but it seems that their problems won’t end. The distant rumble of thunder signals the impending arrival of a thunderstorm. They quickly return to the pits, everything seems fine, they suit up and are ready to go: the cars are side by side, and the friendly challenge begins. However, something strange happens: the Porsche and Cobra race on a dry track despite the deluge that’s actually taking place. Why is that?

The answer is unexpected: they’re driving the two Roarington simulators and competing on that same track, without the risks and problems brought by bad weather.

The friendly challenge concludes with the victory of the younger driver, but just as anticipation for a rematch builds, something unexpected occurs: the two women are no longer bored, shunning thoughts of Milan, and instead, they take the wheel to drive on the track themselves, something that normally doesn’t happen. Everyone is happy, then, with the promise of more appointments... on the simulator!

This story was shot in Monza, in just one day, thanks to the perfect organization of the Milanese Production House Basement and under the direction of Manuel Esposito, an experienced filmmaker along with his brother, Luca, the director of photography. A successful tale that we’re delighted to share with you. Watch it more than once, you’ll discover many interesting details, and, above all, the remarkable opportunity offered by the simulators. These masterpieces allow everyone from seasoned drivers to passionate event-goers to practice and have fun without the complexities, costs, and uncertainties of travel and assistance.
