The visionary Ferruccio Lamborghini, the daring Nuccio Bertone, and the imaginative Marcello Gandini: in just a few months in 1967, these three men created one of the most extraordinary cars ever, the Lamborghini Marzal. Designed as an almost entirely transparent spaceship, with its four passengers perfectly visible, it was built on the production Miura chassis, extended by 120 millimeters, and powered by a transversely mounted 2.0-liter inline-six engine.

No less revolutionary was the interior: the four seats were upholstered in luminescent white leather, and a hexagonal honeycomb theme on the dashboard matched the style of the rear louvers. Lamborghini aimed to amaze the world in his rivalry with Enzo Ferrari, entrusting Prince Rainier of Monaco to drive the Marzal with Grace Kelly by his side on the opening lap of the 1967 Grand Prix.

Bertone, eager to strengthen ties with Lamborghini, funded the project himself. Gandini, an exceptional talent, allowed his imagination to flow freely, achieving outstanding harmony in innovative design. The engine origin is fascinating: a Miura V12 cut in half, retaining the distinctive feature of merging the engine block with the transmission and differential. Its 1,965cc displacement produced 175 hp.

The challenges in constructing the car, including its large gullwing doors and sourcing curved door windows, relegated the Marzal to the realm of dreams. However, it inspired the Espada, simpler in design but conceptually similar. A true work of art.
