Two sales at opposite ends — not only of the American Atlantic coast, but also in terms of event type and the cars presented. In Miami, coinciding with the Formula 1 Grand Prix, Bonhams placed its bets exclusively on modern supercars (average year of production: 2001) of the kind that appeal greatly to the tech-bro crowd who gravitate toward the glamour of major events. The other, 1,000 kilometres to the north, in Greenwich, Connecticut, during the traditional Concours d'Élégance, everything shifts: the cars at either end of the spectrum are of an entirely different character, and the average year of production climbs sharply — all the way back to 1967.
In Miami, the offering was modest — just 29 cars, of which 16 were sold (55.17%). A measure of success nonetheless: $14,506,400 in total sales, with an average price of $906,650.
