Sauber is a Swiss racing team and automotive engineering firm founded in 1970 by Peter Sauber. The team has competed in Formula One for over 30 years, and also had success in sports car racing. Sauber has been involved in various series of motorsport, including the World Rally Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team's first Formula One outing was in 1993, where they scored points in their debut race. Since then, Sauber have achieved consistent success in the sport, including a 4th place finish in the Constructor's Championship in 2001. Sauber have also been involved in various innovative technological advances in motorsport, including the development of a KERS system for use in F1. In 2014, Sauber also became the first team to launch a driverless car in a competitive race. Sauber remain a competitive force in Formula One, and have achieved some impressive results in recent years, including a podium finish at the 2018 Monaco Grand Prix.
