Company

The Regal Motor Car Company was founded in Detroit, Michigan, in 1907, and produced automobiles until 1918. The company was known for its luxury cars, which featured high-quality materials and attention to detail. The first Regal models were equipped with four-cylinder engines and shaft drive, and later models offered six-cylinder engines and other advanced features for their time. Despite its reputation for quality, the Regal brand struggled during World War I due to the shift in consumer demand toward cheaper, mass-produced cars. Production of the Regal automobile ceased in 1918, and the company was eventually dissolved in the 1920s.

History

The Regal Motor Car Company was founded in 1908 by Charles, J.E. and Bert Lambert and Fred W. Haines in Detroit, Michigan. The Regal automobile was designed by Paul Arthur and featured a medium-sized and medium-priced car with their own four-cylinder engines and bodies from the Fisher coachworks. The company introduced an Underslung chassis model and in 1915, V-8 and light four-cylinder engines were added to the line. Regal was competitive in pricing, starting at $900 in 1911. Regal was a leader in exporting U.S. automobiles. However, World War I material shortages slowed production, and the company went bankrupt in February 1918. The factory was later sold and made spare parts for a brief period.
