In 1884, Jacob Rauch and Charles E. J. Lang founded the Rauch & Lang Carriage Company, which produced high-quality and expensive carriages in Cleveland. The company ventured into the automotive industry in 1903 by becoming an agency for the Buffalo Electric. Two years later, in 1905, they began producing their own electric stanhope. The Rauch & Lang Carriage Company continued to manufacture electric vehicles until 1932, with production moving to Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts in 1920. The company was known for its high-quality craftsmanship and innovative designs, which helped it stay competitive in the rapidly evolving automotive market.
