Company

Phenomenon launched the Phenomobil 4/6 PS in 1907, which was their first car model. It had a 2-cylinder SV-V engine with a displacement of 0.9 liters, and a tubular steel frame. Later, a four-seater version was introduced in 1912, equipped with a 4-cylinder SV in-line engine and a sheet steel frame. The car was later replaced in 1920 with the Phenomobile Type V, which was produced until 1927.

History

The Phenomobil 4/6 PS, launched by Zittau motorcycle manufacturer Phenomenon in 1907, was a three-wheeler car. It featured a 2-cylinder SV-V engine, producing 6-7 hp (later 9 hp) with a displacement of 0.9 liters. Power was transmitted via a 2-speed planetary gear to the single front wheel, which was set up on a tubular steel frame with a rear rigid axle suspended from C springs (later semi-elliptic leaf springs). The car had an encapsulated coil spring front fork and an outside band brake foot brake acting on the rear wheels. Open two-seaters and barrows were produced. In 1912, a four-seater model, the Phenomobil 6/12 hp, was introduced, featuring a 4-cylinder SV in-line engine developing 12 hp from a displacement of 1.55 liters. The car had a normal drum brake instead of the outer band brake and a sheet steel frame that was raised and tapered at the front to accommodate the front fork. The Phenomobil Type V replaced this car in 1920 and was produced until 1927, also as a taxi. After production ended, Phenomenon focused on manufacturing commercial vehicles.
