Company

The Holsman Automobile was a popular American car manufactured from 1901 to 1911 in Chicago, Illinois. It was designed, manufactured, and sold by Henry K. Holsman, a prominent architect at the turn of the century. The Holsman was a "high wheeler" vehicle designed to navigate the muddy, rutted roads of the Great Plains with ease. It became very popular and was exported as far away as New Zealand. One of its most notable features was the first usage of the "reverse" gear, which was invented by Henry K. Holsman himself. The company's motto was "High Wheels Travel All Roads Because All Roads Are Made to Be Traveled by High Wheels."
