Online auctions? The Barrett-Jackson Fortress teaches
Barrett-Jackson Auction House held an online vintage car auction, demonstrating its ability to adapt to the pandemic. The auction featured a parterre of cars with most having reserve prices, and Barrett-Jackson provided dozens of photos and videos of the lots to help buyers safely participate. The top lot was a 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo ex-NASCAR car that fetched $425,000, with the entire proceeds going to charity. The auction also saw a trend of online sales reaching prices similar to those at traditional auctions.

Is all that glitters gold?
The Porsche 959 and Jaguar XJ220 were both hypercars of the late 80s and early 90s, with advanced technology and astronomical prices. The Porsche 959 sold for DM420,000 and only 292 were produced, with the last one selling for $1,050,000. The Jaguar XJ220 was priced at £361,000 with a deposit of £50,000 per order, but many buyers withdrew after the V12 engine was replaced with a V6. Only 281 out of 1,500 customers bought the car, with recent sales fetching $340,500 to €398,750.

Mille Miglia: the mother of Gran Turismo races postponed until October
The upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed, scheduled to be held in July, will have a special exhibit featuring iconic Ferraris that have competed in various motorsports events. The exhibit will include 13 Ferraris that have been successful in different racing categories, including Formula 1, sports car racing, and endurance racing. Some of the notable Ferraris on display will be the 166 MM Barchetta, the 330 P4, the 512 BB LM, and the F2004 F1 car. The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual event that showcases historic cars and celebrates motorsports culture.
