The upcoming “Silverstone Festival”, scheduled from 25th to 27th August, promises to be a spectacular celebration of the world-famous circuit's 75th anniversary. More than 20 races during the weekend featuring covered and open-wheel cars of all eras.
Silverstone's illustrious journey began back in October 1948 when it held its inaugural race meeting. The event took place on the runways and perimeter roads of a former RAF bomber station, as other race circuits like Brooklands and Donington were out of operation post-WWII. However, Silverstone quickly rose to prominence as the definitive home of British Motor Racing, a title it has proudly retained to this day. The debut race meeting in 1948 was no ordinary affair; it was an International Grand Prix featuring the crème de la crème of the sport and the fastest cars of that time. Just two years later, Silverstone gained additional honor by becoming the host of the first round of the FIA World Championship for the newly introduced Formula 1.
Over 1000o people visit the Silverstone Festival each year, a true paradise for car enthusiasts.
With the “Silverstone Festival”, the glory of the past and the circuit's present prominence as the annual host of the British Grand Prix will be brought to the forefront. A special highlight of this grand event will be the glittering parade of Grand Prix cars that have graced Silverstone's track throughout its remarkable 75-year history. This moving museum on wheels will showcase iconic vehicles, evoking memories of past champions and celebrating the achievements of British Grand Prix winners from yesteryear.
