The aerodynamics of the Jamais Contente was based on the elongated torpedo shaped bodywork which, at the time, according to initial studies, has shown to be aerodynamically efficient and had already been used in the construction of the first airships such as the one built in 1852 by Henri Giffard and in 1872 by Paul Haenlein. 1
