History

The Triumph Motor Company was a British car and motor manufacturing company, established in Coventry, England in 1885 by German born Siegfried Bettmann. Initially, the company produced and sold bicycles, but in 1902 they began producing motorcycles. In 1923, the company began producing cars and went on to become one of Britain’s most successful car companies. The company was renowned for producing stylish cars with powerful engines that provided good value for money. The company was also known for its innovative designs, such as the Triumph Spitfire, which was launched in 1962 and became one of the most popular sports cars of the 1960s. The Triumph brand was eventually taken over by the Rover Group in the 1980s and was eventually absorbed by BMW in 1994.
