History

Tojeiro was a British sports car manufacturer founded in late 1959 by John Tojeiro. It was based in Reading, England and produced two models, the Tojeiro-JAP and the Tojeiro-Climax. The Tojeiro-JAP was the company's first car, and it was powered by a 1,000cc JAP V-twin engine. The car had a lightweight frame with a fiberglass body and a four-speed manual gearbox. The car was designed to be as light and simple as possible, and it was very successful in racing, winning many events in the early 1960s. In 1962, Tojeiro released the Tojeiro-Climax, which was powered by a 1,100cc Climax engine. This car had a more powerful engine and a five-speed gearbox. It was also more luxurious, with leather upholstery and a wooden dashboard. The company ceased operations in 1965, but the cars remain popular today among classic car enthusiasts.
