Subaru is a Japanese automobile manufacturer and one of the largest automakers by production in the world. The company is notable for their extensive use of the boxer engine layout for most of their vehicles above 1500 cc. They are also known for producing turbocharged versions of their passenger cars such as the Impreza WRX, Legacy and Outback XT, and Ascent. The Subaru Impreza which has been in production since 1992, is considered to be the most famous and most successful car made by the company.

History

Founded in 1953, it is best known for its line of all-wheel-drive vehicles, including the popular Outback, Forester, and Crosstrek models. The company is known for its use of boxer engines, symmetrical all-wheel-drive drivetrains, and turbocharged engines in its vehicles. Subaru also produces a number of other vehicles, such as the BRZ sports car and the Impreza line of sedans and hatchbacks. Subaru has a strong presence in motorsport, with its vehicles competing in the World Rally Championship, the American Rally Association, and the National Off-Road Racing Association.
