Riley was a British manufacturer of motorcars and bicycles, with a history dating back to 1890. In 1938, Riley was acquired by the Nuffield Organization, and later merged into the British Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968. However, in July 1969, British Leyland announced the immediate end of Riley production. While many cars from Riley's inventory may have been first registered in 1970, this marked the end of the Riley brand. Today, the trademark for Riley is owned by BMW.
