Company

Heinkel Flugzeugwerke was a German aircraft manufacturing company founded by Ernst Heinkel. The company is famous for producing bomber aircraft for the Luftwaffe during World War II. In addition to their contributions to the war effort, Heinkel Flugzeugwerke also made important advances in high-speed flight, including pioneering work in liquid-fueled rocket and turbojet-powered aircraft. Two of the company's designs, the Heinkel He 176 and the Heinkel He 178, respectively, were the first successful liquid-fueled rocket and turbojet-powered aircraft to take flight, and both did so shortly before the outbreak of World War II in Europe.
