Company

Fabrique Nationale d’Armes de Guerre, or simply FN, was a Belgian company founded in 1889. Although it was primarily known for manufacturing weapons, it also produced automobiles and motorbikes for several decades. The company began making cars in 1899 and continued to do so until the late 1930s. FN was Belgium's longest-lived car manufacturer, with a history spanning almost 40 years.

History

The first automobile produced by Fabrique Nationale d’Armes de Guerre (FN) was the Spider in 1900, which had a two-cylinder engine and chain linkage. FN's luxurious Typ 30-40 followed in 1905 and was favored by Belgian royalty and the Shah of Persia. In 1927, the FN 10CV was launched, followed by the technically advanced FN 11CV in 1930, which was available as a delivery van and an eight-cylinder model. The FN 11CV 1625, which had a larger engine, succeeded the FN 11CV in 1931. FN faced economic difficulties due to producing 16 different models, and from 1930 only two new models were built, named after the king's grandsons, the FN Prince Baudouin and FN Prince Albert, which shared the same 11CV engine but had different bodywork.
