Company

The Cooper Car Company is a British automobile manufacturer that was established in December 1947 by Charles Cooper and his son John Cooper. They initially started by building racing cars in Charles's garage in Surbiton, Surrey, England, in 1946. Later, John's childhood friend Eric Brandon joined them, and together they began creating mid-engined, single-seat cars that went on to compete in Formula One and the Indianapolis 500.

History

During the 1950s and early 1960s, the Cooper Car Company reached the pinnacle of motor racing, thanks to their innovative designs and high-performance racing cars. Their cars were known for their excellent handling, lightweight construction, and mid-engine layout, which gave them an advantage over their competitors.

The Cooper Car Company also made a name for themselves in rally racing, where their Mini Cooper became one of the most successful rally cars of all time. The Mini Cooper dominated rally racing, winning the Monte Carlo Rally three times and many other prestigious rallies.

Today, the Cooper name is still used in the production of Mini Cooper cars, which are built in England, but the company is now owned and marketed by BMW. Despite this, the legacy of the Cooper Car Company lives on as one of the most innovative and successful racing car manufacturers of all time.
