Company

Société des Automobiles Bellanger Frères was a French automobile manufacturer that operated between 1912 and 1925. The company was founded by Robert Bellanger, who had previously sold Delaunay-Belleville vehicles. Bellanger's cars were known for their high quality and luxurious features, and were often marketed to the wealthy. The company produced a range of models, including sports cars and limousines, and its vehicles were popular in France and other European countries. However, the company struggled financially during World War I and eventually went bankrupt in the mid-1920s. Despite its relatively short history, Bellanger Frères is remembered as an important player in the early history of the French automobile industry.

History

Robert Bellanger and his brothers established Société des Automobiles Bellanger Frères in 1912, a French automobile manufacturer situated in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Paris. The company produced motor cars branded as "Bellanger," which featured the slogan "Son capot est d'argent et son silence est d'or" (her bonnet is silver and her silence is golden). Robert Bellanger, the company's founder, had previously sold Delaunay-Belleville vehicles. He later became a politician in the 1920s, and the company was sold to Peugeot in 1925. The site was subsequently sold again in 1928 and used for the production of the little Austin 7 under license by the newly formed Automobiles L. Rosengart business. Bellanger also produced aero-engines during World War I, continuing to do so until 1928 despite disposing of the automotive business.
