History

ASA was an Italian automobile manufacturer founded in 1961 by Giotto Bizzarrini, Ferrari's former chief engineer. It was a subsidiary of the De Nora group and produced lightweight and compact sports cars for a more affordable price. ASA's first car was the 1000 GT, a two-seat coupe powered by a 1.0-liter engine with a fiberglass body and advanced features like disc brakes and independent suspension. In 1964, ASA introduced the larger and more luxurious 411 GT with a 1.3-liter engine and refined features like power windows and leather seats. Despite their innovative design, ASA cars were not commercially successful and the company closed down in 1969. Today, ASA cars are rare and collectible, prized for their unique design and the legacy of their creator.
