AC Cars Ltd. formerly known as Auto Carriers Ltd., is a British specialist automobile manufacturer and one of the oldest independent car makers founded in Britain. The company became Auto Carriers Ltd in 1911 and moved to Ferry Works, Thames Ditton, Surrey – at this time they also began using the famed “AC” roundel logo.
History
Founded in 1901 by John Weller in a tiny workshop in London to indulge his hobby of building cars, AC is a car-maker with a lot of history. It is one of the most historic and fun sports car brands. Since the of the last century, AC Automotive has delivered hand-built, classically designed sports car to adoring fans. Most people would know AC Cars for their Cobra years. In 1961 Carroll Shelby wanted to install a 4.2-liter V8 into a lightweight AC Ace. The result was the AC Cobra, one of the fastest and most brutal sports car of all times.
