Retro Classics Stuttgart is one of the world's largest meeting places for classic car enthusiasts. Located in southern Germany, this fair has established itself as a central hub for the industry, featuring exhibitions, a large marketplace for buying and selling vehicles, as well as spare parts and components.
After celebrating 130 years of motorsport at last year’s edition, Mercedes-Benz returns to Retro Classics with a focus on the art of restoration, allowing enthusiasts to closely observe the work of expert restorers. At the stand inside Hall 1, artisans from the Classic Center will demonstrate their skills live, working on upholstery and mechanical components such as transmissions, front axles, and steering systems.
Among the stars of the fair, two true icons of the brand: a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL "Gullwing" (W 198), currently undergoing restoration at the Classic Center, and a 1988 300 SL from the R 107 series. The brand is also showcasing a CL 600 from the C 215 series as a preview of the new special exhibition dedicated to "Youngtimers", the more recent classic cars.
For those who have always dreamed of getting behind the wheel of a 300 SL, Mercedes-Benz Classic will offer an immersive experience with two driving simulators, created in collaboration with Roarington. One of these simulators is inspired by the Gullwing number 417, which made history at the 1955 Mille Miglia with its class GT victory.
At Retro Classics, the Mercedes-Benz Museum will give visitors a taste of the upcoming special exhibition "Youngtimer", taking place from April 11 to November 2, 2025. The exhibition will feature no fewer than ten vehicles from the 1990s and 2000s, divided into five themed sections. Each section will present the lifestyle and pop culture of the era, offering numerous interactive experiences.
While celebrating the timeless appeal of its cars, Mercedes-Benz Classic also emphasizes the importance of craftsmanship in preserving automotive heritage — without losing sight of the future, represented by new digital technologies. Roarington is proud to be part of the brand’s history and delighted to give visitors the opportunity to experience iconic Mercedes-Benz cars like the 300 SL Gullwing or the Evo through driving simulators.
