Rome Finally Has a Great Concorso d’Eleganza. It Was About Time!

William Heinecke’s dream has come true: to stage a great Concorso d’Eleganza dedicated to Italian automobiles, in the magnificent heart of Rome, Villa Borghese. Today, at last, the winning cars will be crowned after the various stages of the event — from the departure at the aristocratic Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Hotel, in Piazza della Repubblica, to the excursion through the Castelli Romani, and then the exhibition around the delightful Casina Valadier in Villa Borghese.

One must understand something, to appreciate the satisfaction of the organiser, the competitors, and the public — a large and keenly attentive crowd. Last year, when everything was ready and the cars were already in Rome for the first Anantara Concorso Roma, it was announced that on that very same day the funeral of Pope Francis, who had passed away only days before, would be held. William Heinecke and Adolfo Orsi, the Chief Judge, did not hesitate: out of the respect owed to the Pontiff, they cancelled the Concorso on which they had been working for months. This is why the success of this true first edition carries a meaning that is quite special.
