Affordable Collecting - Part 13: Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique Eligible Cars
Eight more affordable classics for young collectors ready to tackle the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique with spirit, history, and adventure.

The series dedicated to young collectors looking to enter the world of historic cars continues with the second installment focused on vehicles for the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique-an ideal gateway into vintage competition, capable of blending driving, history, and a true spirit of adventure.
There are two ways to approach the event. On one side is the more rigorous path, choosing cars that have written important chapters in the history of the Rallye Monte-Carlo-such as the Ford Escort RS2000 or Lancia Fulvia featured in the previous installment-favored by those who want to tackle regularity stages with an almost professional mindset. On the other side is a lighter, more ironic approach, stepping into a past that no longer exists, perhaps behind the wheel of the famous Austin Taxi that entered the rally in 1961, or a Lada 1300 complete with fur hat and coat.
In the 1980s, at the height of the Cold War, the Rallye Monte-Carlo was one of the few events capable of crossing the Iron Curtain. Some crews from the Warsaw Pact were allowed to participate, despite intense tensions between the USA and the USSR. Monte-Carlo brought people together rather than dividing them-just as it still does today.
