After twenty years of success drawing more than 14,5 million visitors, the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart finds its contemporary expression in the energy of new ideas rooted in fashion, costume, and visual culture — ideas brought to life by its Director, Bettina Haussmann — breathing fresh meaning into the concept at the heart of this extraordinary and singular experiential space.

Inaugurated on 19 May 2006, this imposing and dynamic building designed by UNStudio, the firm of architects Ben van Berkel, Caroline Bos, and Tobias Wallisser, was conceived around the visionary idea of a route inspired by the double helix of DNA. A powerful symbol: just as the genetic code carries human identity, the visitor route unfolds along a spectacular double helix that tells the story of the three-pointed star's technical, stylistic, and sporting heritage against the backdrop of 150 years of cultural and social history.
