Ferrari Stole the Show at RM Sotheby’s “Tailor for Speed” Auction in Zurich
Deborah Mayer’s “Tailor for Speed” auction breaks records as RM Sotheby’s sells 42 hypercars for CHF 69.6 million.

Debt, death, divorce. Deborah. Among experts, these are known as “the three Ds”, the reasons why a high-end collection of any kind, from paintings to antique ceramics, is broken up, and Deborah Mayer's collection was the most eagerly awaited auction of the autumn. The Swiss collector is extremely well known in the racing world, financing at least three continental-level teams.
She entrusted RM Sotheby's with organising the auction on 11 October in Zurich (Switzerland). With the discretion that characterises the auction house, the name of the seller was not disclosed, but two Rosso Deborah Ferraris, “one-offs” and only one owner? Some of the cars in her team, also with only one owner, spoke for themselves.
However, the Tailor for Speed Collection consisted of 42 ultra-modern supercars and hypercars (more than half of which were less than 10 years old), many of which were limited edition models and for almost all of which the list of buyers was longer than the production list. In short, these were cars that the market is currently ready to buy without hesitation. It is no coincidence that all of them were sold and many went well above their estimates. In fact, compared to an initial estimated value of CHF 53,250,000, the day's turnover was CHF 69,627,125 (almost €75 million and, at today's exchange rate, almost $87 million). With an average price of CHF 1,658,860, it is the auction with the highest average price ever.
