Gooding in Monterey: Optimism and realism
Gooding Monterey 2025 set records with Ferrari, Porsche & Jaguar as adjusted estimates drove strong sales.

There are cars that spark memories and others that spark light bulbs. This is the case with a Jaguar C-Type sold by Gooding, which prompts me to say that I have found the answer to a big question. Before talking about it, however, it is necessary to dwell on how the Gooding auction in Monterey went.
At first glance, it seems like a strange sale: slightly fewer cars offered than last year, 175 compared to 184, and the same number sold, 144, with an increase in percentage from 78.26% to 82.29%. Cars without reserve fell from 99 in 2024 to 80 (45.71%). The most anomalous figure comes from the value: in 2024, the 184 cars offered last year had an estimated value of $197,815,000, while this year the value had fallen to $163,390,000, but the turnover turned the situation around: from $92,739,200 to $126,624,560, the best result since 2016. So let's recap: -5% cars, -19% cars without reserve, -17% estimate.
