The 2026 results from Gooding suggest that the strategy put in place by the new ownership – the renowned auction house Christie’s – is working: the successes at Retromobile in Paris, at Amelia Island, and the decision to acquire the official Pebble Beach auction all speak for themselves, as will the results we are about to examine. For this last auction, a further shrewd move was the decision to offer, this year, fewer cars than in 2025 (down from 175 to 165) and, consequently, a lower estimated value ($140 million against $163.4 million). Probably a deliberate choice to wrong-foot the competition.
